How does a Mobile Phone is Damaging Our Society?

Although your smartphone can help you keep in contact with relatives and friends all over the world, find potential dating and marriage prospects, and lead you when you get lost, it also has drawbacks. Yes, your smartphone may make your life more difficult in some respects.

The fact that they are addictive is, of course, one of their major drawbacks. I grew so addicted to texting a few years ago that I vowed to give it up for Lent and then for the rest of my life. I made it a point to contact individuals if I needed to talk with them or, better yet, make plans to meet them in person.

Impacts of Mobile Phones in Our Society:

Tendonitis in Teenagers:

Teen Tendonitis can be caused by too much texting (TTT). Due to improper posture, it causes discomfort in the hands, back, and neck. According to a five-year study, excessive mobile phone use has been linked to musculoskeletal diseases such as tendinitis and first carpometacarpal arthritis in the forearm and thumb.

Reduced Attention Span:

While digital multitasking may appear to be efficient, it may ultimately lead to a loss of attention. According to Microsoft's research, the average attention span of participants was only eight seconds. The attention span of a goldfish is nine seconds long. This shortening of the attention span is a recent phenomenon, and it is particularly noticeable in "strong multi-screeners." Humans could only pay attention to anything for 12 seconds in the year 2000, before cell phones.

Changing Your Mentality:

Too much screen time can alter both the structure and the function of your brain. Dartmouth University researchers contrasted the takeaways people who read real books got from a section to those who read on screens, and they discovered that those who read on screens had a worse time understanding abstract concepts in the passages they read.

Anxiety:

Teens' anxiety levels may rise if they rely on texting as their major means of communication. Texting provides immediate gratification, but it also causes worry. A friend's quick response might offer delight and elation. However, in the event of a delayed or non-response, the same pleasure might change into disappointment. Additionally, mobile phone addiction may develop into a preoccupation with checking and responding to messages as soon as possible. It may also raise anxiety by giving the impression that they have received a message when there are none, causing them to check their phones constantly.

Passive Assisting:

According to Harvard Business School research, the size of your phone may influence your assertiveness. People who utilized smaller gadgets in the study stayed in their seats waiting for a researcher to return, rather than going to the front desk and getting them as directed. People who used more powerful technological gadgets were more aggressive. Unfortunately, hunching over small electronic devices leads to poor posture, which is just one of several everyday behaviors that undermine your self-esteem.

Prestige Mania:

Because of recent advancements in cell phone technology, teenagers now have easy access to all information. Although much of what is presented on social media and the Internet is inaccurate, naïve teens may take it seriously and be affected. This may cause them to live in a fantasy world and gain a false status as a result. Some people may turn to criminal activity in order to realize their desires.

Taking Away Your Empathy:

Empathy isn't as strong among today's children as it once was. According to research done at the University of Michigan, today's college students are 40% less sympathetic than those of 30 years ago. The explanation of this sharp decline in empathy is thought to be a mix of increased media exposure and social media use, both of which we all have in our pockets at all times.

Occipital Neuralgia:

Constantly looking down at your phone can cause a neck, but it can also cause occipital neuralgia, a severe disease that occurs when the occipital nerves at the base of your neck become pinched, resulting in excruciating headaches. What’s the good news? Headaches can be relieved. What’s the bad news? It necessitates a large number of injections, so keep your posture in mind.
